Inside Flap Description:

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina, were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever.

Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister's murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals who have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

What follows is a shocking chain of events with devastating consequences, and now Mac struggles to cope with grief while continuing her mission to acquire and control the Sinsar Dubh--a book of dark, forbidden magic scribed by the mythical Unseelie King, containing the power to create and destroy worlds.

In an epic battle between humans and Fae, the hunter becomes the hunted when the Sinsar Dubh turns on Mac and begins mowing a deadly path through those she loves.

Who can she turn to? Who can she trust? Who is the woman haunting her dreams? More important, who is Mac and what is the destiny she glimpses in the black and crimson designs of an ancient tarot card?

From the luxury of the Lord Master's penthouse to the sordid depths of an Unseelie night club, from the erotic bed of her lover to the terrifying bed of the Unseelie King, Mac's journey will force her to face the truth of her exile, and to make a choice that will save the world....or destroy it.

My Rating: A+

My Review:

Wow.....just....wow.

After years of waiting for this book, you couldn't have pried me away with a crowbar!
To add to the pure delight of having the book in my hands, I had the pleasure to read the book along side my mother, at one point reading 40 pages to each other. (I highly recommend this type of reading if you can!)

Mac has GOT to be one of my all time favorite female leads out there. I don't think I've ever loved a female character as much as I love her. And Barrons? Forget about it! He's so amazingly awesome and...::drool::

This book had me on my toes the entire time. I was not above randomly screaming out expletives and scaring my fiance when Moning had once again taken the last 50 pages and thrown me for yet another loop. At one point my mother and I started making a graph! We just couldn't keep up with it all--in a good way. There was no 'I had it figured from the beginning' this time around. For those that may have, bully for you, I was clueless.

I would do it all over again, the waiting, the screaming, the crying. I probably will. This book, this series, it's just too excellent. Like the Unseelie Princes, you want to look away from the beauty...you just can't.

For those who have done like I, and read a book, waited a year for the next and so on, I'm sure you've eaten this giant up already, for those who haven't, go back, start at Darkfever, and come be a part of the group of us that would love to be Mac (some days) and love to take Barrons to our bed.

  1. Oh gee, guess I will have to read at least one. Who say I am not willing to try new things?
I used to be so excited when a new King book came out. It has been a long time since I feverishly waited (pun intended) for a book. What is the title of the first one and how did you find this series?

  4. I didn't realize that this was a sequel. I saw this at Target and got pulled into the first few pages, so I'm going to have to download the first one to my Nook Color - thanks for the heads up!
