Books I Found

On a recent trip to Barnes and Noble (Erie, PA) I picked up my two favorite magazines, Bookmarks and Romantic Times Book Reviews. I love both of these and am quite excited because I am going to start an annual subscription to both soon. A subscription is great for me because I rarely get up to Erie, which is where the closest B&N is located.

Going through the magazines is always fun for me, it's a one stop shop - to be read piler. That's right, that's the technical term for it.

I did find, after writing down all my new wants, that many of them were books that were already released, a while ago! How could have I not known about all of these beautiful books I want to read?!?!?

Here's a nifty picture thing I made to show you all the books I want that have already been released:

BOOKS28

(from Left to Right)

1. Devil in the White City by Erik Larson

2. Fall of Giants by Ken Follett

3. Our Tragic Universe by Scarlett Thomas

4. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

5. The Tudor Secret by C.W. Gortner

6. To Defy A King by Elizabeth Chadwick

7. Blood Song by Cat Adams

8. Chang and Eng by Darin Strauss

9. Half A Life Dain Strauss

10. Who Killed Chaucer by Terry Jones

11. A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith

And the following are the books I found that are being released on March 1, 2011! I'm excited for all of these, but especially for Royal Pains as it's centered around one of my favorite topics: Unruly Royals!

BOOKS31

1. Captured by The Highlander by Julianne MacLean

2. The Raven by Jules Watson

3. Royal Pains by Leslie Carroll

4. Never Kiss A Stranger by Heather Grothous

Anyone else looking forward to the above or read them?? Any hints on where to put these on my wish and tbr lists?

  3. I'll be interested to know what you think of Fall of Giants ... the title interests me, but I wonder if the story will be as I imagined it can be :-)

  4. Definitely pick up Devil in the White City - I think that is one of my all-time favorite books. Erik Larson does a wonderful job with narrative and description, and the flipping of each chapter between the construction of the 1893 World's Fair and a serial killer was wonderfully done. I also hear that it's going to be made into a movie soon, with Leonardo DiCaprio as the serial killer. Should be a fabulous movie (hopefully). I hope you enjoy it :)

  5. Nice list of books. I have Who Murdered Chaucer, and trust me it is a very dry and boring book. I could not finish it.
I love the look of the books on your list. This is usually how I find new books, I look at cool covers. I have to look up Our Tragic Universe. Not only is the cover cool, the title really speaks to me!

  8. Ms. Dawn- How often do they come out? I'm willing to wait at home, than drive 45 minutes for a magazine, a good one, but still...not really worth it, in the winter, in NW PA.

Kah- I've never read any of his books, my dad use to read his other ones..the less historical ones.

Coffe and a Book- A good friend of mine bought the book over the weekend, and I plan on borrowing it as SOON as she's done. Don't thing I've heard a negative yet.

Sari- I thought you'd told me that about the Chaucer book...I'd still like to give a go. I really love Terry Jones too...hmmm. And, I'm glad you liked the set up, it took me MUCH longer than it should have.

JoAnn- I heard some naughty things about the author recently.

Darin- First, thanks SOOOO much for stopping by, and of course I'll let you know what I think of your books. Both look extremely interesting!
