Comfort Food? Nah...Comfort Books...

Ahhh....the ever fun...ever exciting...ever horrible....time. You know which one I'm talking about girls. ::sigh::

It's never fun is it....

Anyway. During times when I'm not feeling up to snuff I long for my bed, my blankie (Alice), and a book....or maybe some pointless t.v.

What I find most comforting though, in times of stress, depression, sickness, or whatever seems to constantly be ailing me (it seems I'm a bit of a whiner), is that I am constantly surrounded by books in my home.

Tonight was my book group night. Sadly, it is still just the two of us, and since I was not feeling quite up to par, my good friend Kaylee (click her name to see her cute and awesome blog) decided to just come to me. I got to do book club in my p.j's! I felt better having company, and even better discussing the books that I'd received in the mail and the books that she'd been reading. Having my books around really does comfort me. I love them, and I love to just lay in bed when I'm feeling down and out, and look at them.

I think the idea that no matter what is going on in my life or whatever is ailing me, I can pick one up and escape into another world. One that could be vastly different than my own, one that could lift me up, or one that could make me realize that what's going on with me could be much much worse.

Books constantly remind me to be thankful for what I have. They make me happy....

  1. I'm right there with you -- a good book during certain times of each month is just the best way to get away from it all.

  3. Count me as one who needs books during this time. I tend to want a lot of me time. Sure wish we were a culture of Red Tents. I would welcome a tent once a month. I take comfort knowing chocolate and books makes all things better.

  4. Oh my gosh, I totally know what you mean. Books have always been one of the best parts of my life. I work in a bookstore, am surrounded by them at home, and now I am a book reviewer and blogger. Ahhh. And now book blogger friends to talk to. :) Totally great. I am trying to write two YA novels too. (Well, mostly I have been on here blogging when I should be writing...)

I think that is great that you got to have book group in your PJ's. Awesome! Hope you are feeling better. :) Happy reading. Stop by my blogs if you get the chance. I love yours and am now a follower. I will post your button on my YA blogs. Need to figure out how to make one of those. I am new at this. :)

  5. I totally agree! My house is full of books and people often ask why I have so many. Honestly it just comforts me to see them when I come home at the end of the day, even if I'm not in the mood to read.
