Tonight, after a text from a friend who reminded me about book group tonight I dragged my Aunt who is in town visiting. We had a very good time as usual. We even picked up a few books! They had a nice little set of some short story collections. Short stories are not usually my thing, but these looked interesting so I decided to give them a go. I picked up:
Monopolies of Loss by Adam Mars-Jones
and
The Facts Behind the Helsinki Roccamatios
Today I received a book in the mail as the winnings of a contest. It's an ARC copy of One Day by David Nicholls. I'm excited to read it. Very excited.
I also received a rather large shipment of books (6 boxes) that were left in Illinois when I came home to Pennsylvania almost 2 years ago. I'm excited to crack into them and see what I left behind. It's like Christmas all over again.
I recently got to spend 50 dollars at BN.com with a gift card from my parents for my birthday. I'll post about those books when they come along. I'm excited to see them! Some I've read before and some are new to me.
I also wanted to point out a new blog. The blogger is a friend of mine who is a highly intelligent awesome guy who I just don't get to see enough his blog is Attempts @ Art & Authenticity. Please check it out!
Now on to the part about what I've been reading. I'm currently reading a new author named Christine E. Schulze. The book is titled Bloodmaiden. Ms. Schulze was kind enough to send along 2 copies of her book, and I will be doing an author interview and giveaway (not the author, the books) with my review! I'm looking forward to it, it's been a while since I've been able to give away books!
So, while I was sick and adjusting to my new life, what my dear reader's have you been up to?
Hi, Sharyla
ReplyDeleteThis is my second attempt to leave a comment. Hope it goes through.
Have you ever read any Margot Livesey? I'd be interested to know what you think of her.
Your blog is looking good, btw.
Sheila
I've not read Margot Livesey, never even heard of her. But I'm off to look her up!
