Well well well. It's just after midnight on Saturday morning, and I'm a bit late for my first Off Topic Friday post. I wanted to start this, mostly because I wanted to post, but really have no reason to. I haven't read in a couple of days because I'm just very busy and by the time I can go to bed I just can't keep my eyes open no matter how badly I want to just sit down and read.
I was thinking earlier and realized that while I talk often about my book love I very rarely talk about anything personal on my blog. Maybe my reader's will have a better feel for why I choose to read what I read and why my opinions are what they are if I let you all know about myself. That's when the idea to start an off topic day came along. So Welcome to Off Topic Fridays here at Melange's Reviews.
I'll start by telling you all that my name is not Melange, which I doubt any of you thought it was. It's Sharyla. My mom made it up. If you're trying to figure out how to pronounce that, it's Sha-rye-la. I'm 24 years old and live in North Western Pennsylvania. In my 24 years I've lived in Pa, Oh, and Il. I've traveled as far south as Alabama and as far north as Toronto. I dream of someday retiring in Scotland and owning a bookstore...
For now, I work as a telemarketer for a publication company. I enjoy my job very much, but it's extremely emotionally taxing and I end up very tired at the end of the day even though I spend hours upon hours sitting in front of a computer.
I am getting married in December to the man who might as well be on the cover of a romance novel. His name is Mike, (as plain as my name is unique). Mike and I have been together since May of '09 but we've known each other since we were 12 and 13. I'm very excited to get married and when someone recently asked if I was getting nervous, I had to say "Nope, if I was nervous, I probably wouldn't be marrying him." Mike is the epitome of chivalrous and he makes me very happy. Plus, he doesn't complain about the hundreds of books around the house, or the fact that we have a bookshelf in the kitchen (small apartment).
I'm going to school through the University of Phoenix online and am...enjoying it for the most part. I'm getting an Associates in Communications. Eventually I would like to review books for a living, but I'm still formulating my 'back up' plan.
Well, that's about it for Off Topic Friday. I hope to read quick tid-bits about my readers. here's a picture of me that I just took tonight after getting my hair all prettied up.
It is always nice when bloggers share personal information. It makes them all the more real to the rest of us. You forgot to add, you are smart and a very loyal friend. I wish there were more people like you!
