Booking Through Thursday

Suggested by Barbara:

I saw that National Library week is coming up in April, and that led to some questions. How often do you use your public library and how do you use it? Has the coffeehouse/bookstore replaced the library? Did you go to the library as a child? Do you have any particular memories of the library? Do you like sleek, modern, active libraries or the older, darker, quiet, cozy libraries?

I do frequent my library, though this is mostly new to me. I use to be a buy buy buy girl, but since the economy has gone pffffffft and the bedroom has been squished I have made a new vow to only buy books that I have to have because the library won't get them soon (ie, new books). I've actually been doing rather well. I also get books from the library for my friends who are too caught up in other things to get books from the library or to go out and buy books. This is a no-no apparently, but until there's a problem (like a ruined book that was never really in my possession) I'll keep on doing it. I'd steal books if it meant getting my friends to read.

I also am at my library every Thursday night, because they are kind enough to let us hold our book club there.

I really prefer cozy libraries, but I'd like one that had lots of comfy chairs and maybe even a fire place. It's got to be warm, maybe even a bit too warm, that way you don't want to bring a blanket with you. I wish my local libr
ary was more like this, but alas, it's quite small and only has one tiny round table that you can sit at. Here's a picture of my local library.

  2. I love cozy libraries. But, I also like libraries that have lots of natural light. I'd be lost without my library, although it's currently too small and crowded for its collection. But, we have it and for that, I'm grateful!

  3. I live in a rural area and we have a county library. It's awful. I have a better young adult selection in my classroom and at home than they do. I wish we had a better library here.
