Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer

Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer
ISBN: 978-0-316-06792-8
Pages: 754
Inside Flap Description:

To be irrevocably in love with a vampire is both fantasy and nightmare woven into a dangerously heightened reality for Bella swan. Pulled in one direction by her intense passion for Edward Cullen, and in another by her profound connection to werewolf Jacob Black, she has endured a tumultuous year of temptation, loss, and strife to reach the ultimate turning point. Her imminent choice to either join the dark but seductive world of immortals or pursue a fully human life has become the thread from which the fate of two tribes hangs.

Now that Bella has made her decision, a startling chain of unprecedented events is about to unfold with potentially devastating and unfathomable consequences. Just when the frayed strands of Bella's life--first discovered in
Twilight, then scattered and torn in New Moon and Eclipse--seem ready to heal and knit together, could they be destroyed...forever?

My Rating: A

My Review:

Did I think this was a 'satisfying ending' to the series? Yes. I thought that everything turned out just wonderfully. Couldn't be happier. I am disappointed because there were personal goals I had for the characters that weren't fulfilled, but the almost 800 pages would have expanded by a couple hundred for every story line I had in my head, so no big deal there. Ms. Meyer has a wonderful capability for writing emotions. I felt one with the characters at all times. Frustrated when they were and happy when they were as well.

With out giving too much away, there was a lapse in time that I wished we'd have been able to read instead of skip over, but I dealt with it. Though, with it in mind I didn't give the book an A+. I felt just being told what happened in a three month span was not near as good as reading it.

As to the people that thought she broke rules she set (the author) I disagree, I also disagree that the characters were acting..uncharacteristic. I think everyone reacted exactly the way I would have expected them too.

I enjoyed this book a lot. I look forward to more books by Ms. Meyer, and am off to put The Host on my wish list.

  1. Great review. I read this one and it was my least favorite in the series. I do agree that she 'has a wonderful capability for writing emotions' But I thought the storyline with Jacob was kinda yucky in this one.
    I really enjoyed 'the host'.
    happy reading :o)

  2. Can I ask what you mean by the yucky with Jacob?? I've read a few reviews that say this but they never explain what they mean and I didn't see any yucky, so it'd be nice to have it explained.

Thanks for liking my review. The Host will be a new stretch for me, since it's really out of what I usually read. But since I like Meyer's writing I'm sure I'll love it.

  3. Well, the whole imprinting on Bella's baby was strange for me. And I found it annoying the way Jacob was obssessing over the baby. I know he loves her as a guardian would and will wait until she grows up, but I just found it kind of disturbing. I think Stephenie Meyer's just wanted a way to keep Jacob in the story for Bella.

  4. I read The Host when it first came out. I didn't plan to read to begin with, but gave it a try. I read in about 3 days and it was just brillant!

  5. I didn't care for this book either. I thought that Meyer took the easy way out of some of the plot problems she created throughout the series.

I think I lost respect for her as a writer after this book. I reviewed it on my blog if you care to take a look.

  6. I liked this one the best. Twilight was so hard to get through. The Host was really good. I think she actually had an editor on that one! ;)

I thought the whole imprinting thing was weird too. I thought it was a cop-out way for keeping Jacob in Bella's life. And the baby's name? Stupid. What was she thinking?
